TGIF: The New Il Campionissimo Cycling Cap, Custom Colombian Caps & Operation: Fresh Air

IL Campionissimo Cycling Cap
photo Red Dots Cycling

We love making custom caps. Our latest new addition, Il Campionissimo, was inspired from an Australian customer some time ago. We wrestled with the idea of an all white cap - and decided to go for it. White is a new color for us, outside our comfort zone because we love muted, darker and plaid. But it really makes sense, the summer sun is harsh and riding a bike can be daunting. White is reflective and linen/cotton wicks moisture better than cotton alone and also provides cooling and comfort. The aqua ribbon is near identical to a famous Italian frame builder and cycling star - you get the picture. And, to keep with our tradition a black version is forthcoming.

Thanks Jeffrey!

The Boar Of The Ardennes Is Sharpening His Fangs

Michael Matthews, Phil Gil and Tony Gallopin.

One of the enjoyable aspects of cycle racing is watching an old hero return to his winning ways. That's what happened to Philippe Gilbert today as he won the one-day classic Brabantse Pijl. He previously won this race as during his magical 2011. Now, the Ardennes trio of races are upcoming. And, something tells me that the Boar of the Ardennes is just sharpening his fangs.

This is big for my morale, and helps ahead of the Ardennes Classics. We will have to wait until LBL to make our conclusions. If I win today and not in the upcoming three races, it's not a good classics season.

- Philippe Gilbert

Phil Gil is back!

Sunday is the Amstel Gold Race..

TGIF: The Hell Of The North

I will be up early Sunday morning to watch my favorite race of the season... the 112th Hell of the North.

Who will survive the over 6 hours of 51kms of cobbles punishment, conquer the wind, choking rain or dust, punctures and mechanicals? I'll be watching and wish all the finishing riders can win the cobble stone trophy (above). It wouldn't be a race without one winner...  it's going to fun to watch!

Paris Roubaix: Sur Le Pavé, La Légende

Paris Roubaix is this Sunday and we're awaiting anxiously to watch it. We love the French history, cobbles, the Arenberg Forest, the riders and everything else of this phenomenally rugged race. To honor our favorite classic, we have created our popular...

Granite color cap, black ribbon, French accent, Red Dots embroidered logo - have a good ride in Hell!

Saturday File: New Fabric For The Upcoming Cycling Cap & Lions Of Flanders

New fabric arrived!
photo Red Dots Cycling

Yesterday, we received our new shipment of fabric. It includes our newest linen/cotton fabric for our new cycling cap. We'll give you a hint -  it will be white!

I will be up early Sunday morning to watch the Tour of Flanders. It will be a busy morning for me as I will also get ready for the Pacific Populaire 100km ride at 9 AM. It seems I won't have time to watch the end of the Ronde. So, my prediction is for Peter Sagan to win his first monument. And, I plan to finish and enjoy my first century - of the season.

Belgian grit!

Make room for our newest cycling cap for Spring, it's orange with a crowning touch... introducing the King Dutch Cycling Cap!

We love orange and have always had an orange cap in stock. It's made from pre-washed linen/cotton. Paying close attention to the Dutch contribution in cycling we have added our own unique embroidered Dutch crown design, navy blue under brim, flag detail and 'rd' logo. You don't have to be Dutch to enjoy one!

Our Custom Cafe Roubaix Cycling Cap

The new Cafe Roubaix custom cycling cap
photo Red Dots Cycling

I first started to follow the story of Cafe Roubaix from Cochrane Alberta, keying in on their David vs Goliath story. Facebook is how I learned of their fantastic story and I 'liked' them - how can you not? I'm originally from Alberta too and I'm happy Cafe Roubaix persevered along with incredible support from many folks around the world. Us included. Shortly afterwards, Dan contacted us for shop cycling caps and wanted Canadian made. A few emails later, we are proud to be chosen to make their shop caps. Today, on Dan's Facebook page, it looks like a positive reaction to the caps...

This is what's on our work table, at the moment. As you may have guess, there's something
'Dutch' in the air. The other cap is a special Aqua ribbon cap. That's two new cycling caps coming soon.

It's been a very crazy, zany, busy week. Sometimes designing new caps and custom caps can be stressful. Our week was everything but production, there's a whole other side to it. There's planning, designing, sourcing out material, in fact, one of our customers asked us for the particular color ribbon for their custom cap. It took time. Between the research online, emailing back and forth - it would be easier if we can just go to ONE supplier for everything. Not so. We discover our best friend is our suppliers. Our suppliers are key to running an efficient small business. As our business has grown, we are at the point now, that we can fulfil the minimums to qualify from our suppliers. Thank you to our suppliers!

One things for sure, production will be full on starting Monday!
