Combat the Cold with the Tierra Fria

photo Red Dots Cycling

If there is one thing we (here in the northern hemisphere) can share is ... winter is still around. Even  here in pleasant Vancouver, the cold is taking us on. Minus 7C for a low and just above freezing during the day can mean riding without a winter cycling cap can spell ...COLD! Whilst the rest of Canada and parts of the US are bundling up. I happily say that relief is in sight!

If you are a fan of Colombian cycling (ie. Nairo Quintana or Lucho Herrera) and admire high quality handmade wool cycling caps, then our handmade custom Colombian wool cycling caps are for you. The winter caps are available from Klaus at cycling inquisition. If you haven't read his superb blog, may I suggest you do. Enjoy it along with a Tierra Fria!

You can purchase the Winter Cap (Tierra Fria) here.

Vive la Francaise Cycling Cap

La Francaise cycling cap
photo Red Dots Cycling

We are re-introducing our popular La Francaise cycling cap. And here is a new twist on our old favorite...

Sometimes things happen for a good reason. We could not find the cotton spandex fabric we originally use for this cap. Phasing out the cap was not an option- folks were adamant and have asked for it. We are happy to find a better alternative ... offer the fabric in linen/cotton!

Our love for linen/cotton holds no bounds. It beats cotton/spandex in many ways; it's comfortable, wicks and breathes well. Every aspect of the handmade navy blue cap remains the same; French tricolor ribbon on top of brim, red under brim and our embroidered logo. And, of course, we pre-wash all fabric to prevent shrinkage.

Currently, the small/medium caps are sold out and more are on the way.

Vive la Francaise!

New Fabric Has Arrived

Oh beautiful!
photo Red Dots Cycling.

We received a nice selection of fabrics from our new supplier!

Perfect timing - this fabric will be used for our Spring collection of cycling caps. We are very excited to bring back a few favorite colors in linen/cotton and two new light weight fabrics in cotton/spandex. First big task is pre-washing all of our fabric before we begin production to avoid shrinkage.

Fight the Polar Vortex with our Winter Cycling Caps

Weather forecasters are predicting the 'polar vortex freeze' is back for central, eastern Canada. Many parts of North America is currently gripped in Winter's icy grasp. That means bone-chilling cold. How about one of our all Wool (and warm) winter cycling caps? We use 100% Italian wool in our: L'Enfer du Nord, Black Sheep and Release the Hounds-tooth caps. All of our winter cycling caps are adapted for your winter rides or pretty much anything you do outdoors. We know that our winter caps are used for equestrian riding fitting well under the helmet. Oh, they also are made to fit comfortably under a cycling helmet ...safety, comfort and looks!

what is green and full of goodness...
it's the green monster smoothie!
photo Red Dots Cycling

Carolle and I have discovered a new smoothie with organic baby spinach, peanut butter, bananas, milk, Chia seeds, I hope I didn't miss anything else... called, the Green Monster! It's crazy heathy and should ramp up my pre-ride or post-ride regime. I do not get any endorsements for this but upon some research, spinach is very good for us:

Excellent source of vitamin A, C, K, iron, fiber, folate and lutein.

Chia seeds are something else. First time that I'm using this and I discovered these little seeds are a great source of omega-3 fats, phosphorus, Manganese and protein. Here's to the Green Monster and improved health!
